Our weekly Catalyst Kitchen community meals at Broxburn and Blackburn are a great support to many.

We provide a delicious, nutritious three-course meal for just £5 every Wednesday (Broxburn) and Thursday (Blackburn) and they are always so well attended.

Nicole Welch is a carer for her mum who has Alzheimer's. She's been part of The Larder family for nearly 10 years, first coming to a training course on how to make home-cooked meals.

She's been supported into a college course at West Lothian College and now she full time cares for her mum.

For her, the community meals provide much-need relief, where she doesn't need to think about dinner one night of the week, and she (and her mum) can have a good gab with all the other attendees at the meal.

David Fitzpatrick, Operations Director for The Larder says:

"Now we understand that the community meals have got a big positive impact on people's lives, the impact that it's got on the social interaction side. Not just the food, but the ability to bring people together, meet with other people to share a meal that's been freshly cooked and prepared.

Sometimes that might be the only meal that, you know, they're receiving that week."
